My weekend at Penguicon
On Friday checked in and was able to enjoy Tom Smith’s special performance at the Opening Ceremony (definitely would like to get a copy of the tune someday!) and got to see both Worm Quartet and the Great Luke Ski perform live! Found the Chocolate Ritual just in time and gave Narfboy Bill some grief for not appearing at a previous convention's Chocolate ceremony which caused me to be on stage. Let’s just say the ritual was delicious and fun as always! I wrapped up my wandering as I stopped in to support my pal
dj_brick’s Dance just in time to listen to Brickhouse. Good fun!
Saturday had a work conference call at 7:00 AM and all was well so then I was off to breakfast and then to the The Time Traveler Vintage SF Podcast, where the mysterious man known as“The Time Traveler”, recorded a live episode with Tobias Buckell. Tobias read an exciting passage from his upcoming book Ragamuffin (which appears on the cover). I was impressed enough that I bought Crystal Rain and look forward to the release of Ragamuffin.
As a supporter of the FuMP I was all set to attend but the morning’s experience took me in an entirely different direction. I missed the uber concert of the FuMP as a Level 2 subscriber I hope they will find it in their collective hearts to forgive me someday ,and instead I attended a panel on “Podcasts, How to Listen, Find, Create” with The Time Traveler, Dr. Jonathon “Sullydog” Sullivan, Tim Ryan and Matthew Stewart-Fulton. Even got to take some pictures for the Time Traveler with his “archaic digital camera” – I guess he likes to collect tech from our century!
Now perhaps the most confounding to me was the Godzilla presentation, there was no details on precisely what it was going to be no pretty prose - as with most every other item in the Programming book there is some detail. As a ZillaFan you must think I attended this to satisfy my curiosity right? Nope! I’m a Tom Smith fan and so went off to sit up front at his concert. Note: I am thankful that the dance that Shay almost started with me did not happen - you may catch me out on the dance floor at night but that’s because it’s dark and... well dark! Anyway love
filkertom… he can do no wrong.
The rest of the weekend Saturday night will be some great memories and fun times with my extended family at Penguicon – Helped carry folding grills to the consuite for the Brazillian Beef. Enjoyed lots of catching up and laughing it up with
trav13369, Narfboy and others (sorry if I did not mention you!) over drinks, snacks and liquid nitrogen ice cream.
On Sunday more hanging out and chatting. I was about to leave early when I was invited to play Munchkin, I have never played and I got not only to play Munchkin but the new Munchkin Cthulhu with Narfboy, Chris, Anna and others.
Someone in the gaming room dropped a package of Star Munchkins for the winner and a Promo Bookmark Of Dark Vileness! for the loser when Steve Jackson dropped a special Munchkin Pegasus Steed card to up the ante - I lost but wasn’t the biggest loser so I have nothing to show for it but probably the best time I had with a game in a long while. What a great game this Munchkin is! Glad I was convinced to stay and game awhile. I will be buying Munchkin Cthulhu soon!
Oh and BTW thanks for the hugs fen!
